Conventional denim mass production involves resource-intensive dyeing and washing processes. A single pair of conventional jeans requires thousands of gallons of water, heavily reliant on sequential high-temperature indigo dye baths and aggressive chemical laundry processes (such as chlorine, caustic soda, and acid washes) to achieve the signature vintage, faded aesthetic. This not only consumes massive amounts of thermal energy but also risks discharging hazardous chemical run-offs into local waterways, posing serious occupational health risks to factory workers.
Our recent designs adopts an innovative colour-transfer technology Cooltrans® (Cold Transfer Printing) that operates without the requirement of heat or water. This new technology bypasses conventional hot dye baths completely. By digitally transferring high-resolution denim textures and reactive inks onto white PFD (Prepared for Dyeing) fabric using a specialized film, it replicates wash effects, whiskering, and even colour prints in a single pass without relying on water as medium. Unlike digital inkjets or sublimation that can leave a rubbery, stiff residue, this process retains the original, premium hand feel, softness, and breathable nature of the 100% cotton fabric.
This significantly reduces water consumption and thermal energy output, minimizing the associated environmental footprint by cutting water consumption by up to 70%–90%, saves around 65% of energy by eliminating the need for heat, and reduces dye chemical usage by 40%.
牛仔生產是時裝界中最消耗資源的紡織品之一。製作一條牛仔褲往往需要耗費數千加侖的水資源,過程極度依賴高溫染色浴,以及激烈的化學常規洗水程序(如使用氯氣、燒鹼和酸洗等)以達到標誌性的復古褪色與貓鬚效果。這不僅消耗巨大的熱能,化學廢水一旦排放更會對水生態系統造成嚴重破壞,同時亦為前線車位與洗水工人帶來職業健康隱患。
我們近期設計中所採用的牛仔布,採用了Cooltrans®(冷轉印牛仔印染)的紡織創新技術。此專利技術完全繞過了傳統的高溫染浴,在無水、無熱能的條件下完成上色。我們關注並採用。它透過將高解析度的牛仔紋理與活性墨水數字印刷於特殊膠卷上,再以冷壓方式精準轉印至白色胚布(PFD)上,無需依賴水作為著色介質,即可在單一工序中完美還原複雜的復古洗水、貓鬚甚至彩色圖案的視覺效果。與傳統膠感較重或使布料變硬的數碼噴墨、昇華印花不同,冷轉印工藝不會破壞 100% 純棉牛仔布原本的挺括、柔軟與透氣度,保持高質素的穿着體感。
透過免除化學洗水工序,冷轉印製程比起傳統洗水法大幅減少高達 70% 至 90% 的用水量;由於全過程無需加熱,能節省約 65% 的能源消耗,並減少 40% 的染料浪費。生產過程免除了工人接觸強有害化學物的風險,創造出更安全的生產環境。
